The Power to Get through Each Day
Is Jesus your sustaining power?
As I sat down to write this Blog post, I was reminded how we need power to keep nearly everything we use running. We need power for our cars, we need power to heat and cool our homes, and we even need power for our computers and phones…among many other things.
Which got me thinking. Similar to how so many amenities of modern life need power, so too do we need power to adequately function. Yet this power that I’m referring to for us is Jesus.
He is our sustaining power to help us get through every day. Whether things are going well in our lives, or if we find ourselves in a challenging time, He helps us, is with us and cares so deeply about us.
He is the power that we need to get through each and every day.
Plugging into Jesus as our “power source” is so important for finding strength, comfort and renewal. When we feel overwhelmed or discouraged, we can turn to Jesus. He promises that His power and love will sustain us.
Furthermore, Jesus offers us a source of strength that goes beyond our own limitations and abilities. (Can I get an “Amen”?) When we feel inadequate, He reminds us that His strength is made perfect in our weakness, as we read in the verses (2 Corinthians 12:9-10) for this month’s promise. By leaning on Him, we can find the courage to keep going, one step at a time, through life’s ups and downs.
When we feel burdened by the weight of our circumstances – whatever they might be – He invites us to cast our cares on Him and find rest. Plugging into Jesus as our power source during times of weakness allows us to release our worries and cares to Him. In Him, we can find the strength to keep going.
I am so thankful for another promise – that He will never leave nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). He is our ever-present help. As we’ve been reminded every week throughout our Pursue the Promises theme, we can count on the Lord, His Word and His faithfulness.
By staying connected to Him by reading the Bible and through prayer, worship and fellowship with other believers, we can find the encouragement and support we need to navigate life's challenges. As we plug into Jesus as our source of power, our relationship with Him is deepened, which ultimately has a positive impact on all areas of our lives.

Verse to Memorize
“Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)
