Message from Pastor Kristian
The theme of this message is…thank you! Thank you for your faithfulness and generosity in supporting missions, in particular our Kenya project. Not only did you help us meet our goal, but you far exceeded it with your giving! More than $100,000 has been raised to rebuild a burned church near Eldoret, Kenya. This site of a terrible tragedy 17 years ago due to political unrest will now be a place of hope.
THANK YOU so much for your giving. With the funds raised, we will be able to help finish construction of the new church and build a new sports complex. We will also be able to drill a well in one of the most dry and desolate locations in Kenya. All of this will provide an amazing opportunity to draw people from surrounding communities to experience HOPE. In case you missed it, or would like to watch it again, here is a link to the Kenya video that provides an overview of this project.
In addition, thank you for your generosity in supporting our students who went on missions trips to King's Castle in El Salvador this summer. A total of $29,220 was raised to support our youth and college age students who went! Thank you to everyone who gave financially, have supported our youth and college age with prayer, and who helped prep, donate and serve food during the three Sunday Missions Dinners.

Local Missions
Lots of amazing things have been happening this summer with local missions! Jubilee Day in Mechanicsburg, PA was a success. Hundreds of families visited our kids’ activities booth and Petting Zoo, had a meaningful experience, and received information about how to connect individually or as a family if they didn’t already have a home church.
In addition, several Mission 10 Work Day teams made a difference. On June 22, we had a team begin terrain modifications for a new prayer garden at Paxton Ministries in Harrisburg. Paxton’s mission is to provide affordable housing and support services to adults in need with Christ-like love. This prayer garden has been on their wish list for more than two years!
In addition, River of Life Assembly of God is a bright light sharing the love of Jesus in the Sunbury, PA community. CLA has been privileged to send several teams to help revitalize the church property, most recently during our July Mission 10 Work Day on July 27. A team of nearly 15 individuals served with River of Life staff and volunteers to tackle various projects.
Together we painted inside doors, including detailed trim work; reinforced its outdoor ramp; repaired a basement window covering and caulked exterior windows; finished repairing brick mortar on the outside of the building; and helped with general cleanup and organization projects.
Our most recent Mission 10 Work Day was held at Greenlight Operation’s Restoration Home in Harrisburg, PA on August 24. We helped sort clothing donations, improve their community booth storage process, brighten their laundry room, paint their back porch, power wash several areas, do yard work and various other tasks. We also had a powerful time of prayer and genuine fellowship as we linked arms with the Greenlight Operation team as they prepare the home for survivors of human trafficking.

Domestic Missions
Eyes Wide Open
When the announcement was first made that CLA was partnering with Pastor Jackie Holgate of Mountaintop Assembly of God located in the Navajo Nation in Kayenta, AZ, many people were excited. The trip team size reached its capacity quickly even though there were not a lot of known details regarding what they would be doing. The reason? Because those going on the trip were focused on the people and not the tasks.
After arrival, the team realized that this trip, which took place May 17-25, was going to be unique. With the United States being full of different cultures and influences, the learning curves started to be revealed early. First, the team learned about the history of the region, the culture, the church and Pastor Jackie’s personal life experience. His testimony led to many questions and provided a chance for the team members to better understand the Navajo culture.
Pastor Jackie also preached a powerful message, which he personally translated, sharing in English and Navajo throughout the message. He shared that although many Navajo know English, there are quite a few people (especially online) who are limited in their vocabulary, and it is important for them to understand the Gospel message in their heart language.

As the week progressed, many construction and renovation tasks were completed, and several surprises came through the Vacation Bible School outreach. Many team members stretched beyond their comfort zone to step into new serving roles and reach into a culture that is different than what they experience on a day-to-day basis. Although English is a common language, there were occasions where there were some language discrepancies. Even though they were in the Unites States, there were times where plumbing concerns led the team to function as if they were in a foreign country… “It was like a foreign missions trip within the United States.”
The Navajo reservation is a place of awe and splendor, but it also has its challenges. Many are faced with poor water conditions and monthly water rations, and a large portion of the reservation population has no running water at all. Those families have to go into the nearest town once a week to fill their portable reservoirs. There are limited stores on the reservation, which means prices are at a premium. For this reason, many will coordinate with each other when they go to the closest stores, which are two hours away. The loss of parents and other relatives leads to families merging together through the bonds of adoption. And for those experiencing homelessness, caring for one another through transportation, food and even a source of plugging in a phone become a crucial step in caring for your neighbor.
Thankfully the story does not end with despair, but instead, begins with hope. Many families attended the Vacation Bible School and lots of stories were shared, but so was the Good News! Several children said yes to Jesus, and many were prayed for during each nightly service. Wounds were healed and the church is increasing its connection to the community through the glorifying of Our Creator who is breaking down barriers and opening our eyes wide to see what He sees!

Philly Dream Center, Philadelphia | Seek and Save - September 21
As Pastor Choco De Jesus stepped into the role of Executive Director of Assemblies of God World Missions, he felt clear direction from the Lord to immediately start the Seek and Save initiative. With a strong sense of urgency, five events to provide intentional opportunities to bring hope, prayer and the light of Jesus to key inner cities throughout the United States were scheduled for 2024.
Thanks to God’s perfect timing, one of those events is scheduled for this September at the Philadelphia Dream Center. With the city directing a massive cleanup of the encampment on Kensington Avenue, many are looking for a next step and, knowing people will choose Jesus during times of tension and transition provides the right timing to be a part of something meaningful and important!

Trip Recaps
Northern Asia
Our team of coaches and English teachers had an incredible experience in Northern Asia recently as they helped run a two-week Summer Camp. The camp was for students ages 4-9 at an international school. The mornings were spent doing baseball and basketball teaching clinics, while the afternoons were spent teaching English (ESL) utilizing music, storytelling, collaborative reading and other creative teaching methods. Our team said that, although the cultural experience was extremely interesting, it was the relationships with the children and parents from several different countries that really impacted them and will leave an impression on them forever!
Tanzania
Our Tanzania medical team made a great impact in the city of Morogoro in July! They saw over 500 patients. Every patient went to a prayer area after seeing the doctor and before going to the pharmacy for their prescriptions. Almost 100 people chose to follow Jesus, and our team heard many amazing testimonies of healing and had special interactions with children that melted their hearts. Pastor Kristian and Pastor Dan also had the privilege of ministering in an all-night worship and prayer service, and each preached in two Sunday morning services at Bethel Revival Temple. This trip was truly life-changing for them all!
Do You Believe in Climate Change?
Every year, CLA partners with nearly 200 missionaries and missionary initiatives. In 2024, missionaries Daniel and Sarah Bricker along with Mike and Diane Masse were added to that list.
- Daniel and Sarah Bricker | Cambodia – Hearing from God separately before marriage and then together as a couple, Daniel and Sarah felt called to missions in the predominantly Buddhist country of Cambodia. They believe in the power of prayer and its ability to shift the spiritual climate for more people to come to know Jesus. Thank you in advance for praying with them for climate change!
- Mike and Diane Masse | Sumba, Indonesia – Previously serving as Missionary Associates to House of Hope, Mike and Diane are newly appointed full-time missionaries to Sumba, Indonesia, also known as the “Forgotten Island.” They ask for prayer as they continue mentoring and discipling youth through House of Hope, helping them to move from the bondage of ancient culture and idol worship to experiencing life change through God’s grace.
Prayer Requests
Will you join us in prayer?
- Paxton Ministries | Harrisburg, PA – Pray for many to accept Jesus through the tangible opportunities and Christ-like love that is being shared with adults with disabilities.
- The Peru Missions Team | Yurimaguas, Peru – Pray for safety and health as the team from CLA serves in Peru in September. It will help build dormitories for a youth camp in the Amazon jungle region that will reach the children of 22 indigenous villages and 33 unreached people groups who live along the Huallaga River.
