Cast Auditions


CLA PRODUCTIONS produces Broadway-style musical theatre to audiences in Central Pennsylvania of over 16,000 patrons in a 2,000-seat auditorium. We are looking for talented people of all ages with a passion for acting, singing and dancing. This is a non-stipend production.

All prospective cast or crew members are encouraged to attend. Detailed information regarding the production will be shared, including volunteer needs, schedules, the required commitment, expectations, cast auditions (storyline, available roles, audition procedures) and more.

  1. Schedule an Audition Appointment. CLICK HERE to sign up for an audition appointment and complete the audition registration. (Select “register,” select appointment date/time, select “Next: Details”)
  2. Submit a headshot. The headshot must be current, of you alone and clearly show your face. All who audition must submit a current headshot.
To submit your headshot:
  • DESKTOP: Go to Church Center. Log in and select account in the upper right-hand corner (profile) to upload your headshot.
  • MOBILE: Go to the Planning Center APP or the Church Center APP on your mobile phone. Log in and select account in the upper right-hand corner (profile) to upload your headshot. To upload a family member's photo, you must use the Church Center APP on your mobile phone.
  • If unable to upload your photo per the above instructions, you may email the photo to

Auditions will be held in the Choir Room at Christian Life Assembly, which is located at 2645 Lisburn Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011. Enter on the back side of the building through the lower level door marked “South Stair Entrance.”

Audition Facts

  • Everyone interested in acting in Christmas Wonderland must sign up for an audition appointment (plan on 30 minutes).
    • Audition appointments will consist of reading scenes from the script.
    • Most roles involve singing, although some roles are non-singing. Everyone auditioning is encouraged to prepare 16-32 bars of a song of your choice. Please try to choose a song that showcases your voice. You may sing a cappella or with a device, CD or a pianist who you provide.
    • You may be asked to sing scales by our vocal director.
  • Everyone auditioning must complete the audition registration, preferably online (see link above).
  • All adults (grade 9 and older) should also select a choreography assessment appointment during registration (plan on 90 minutes). Kids (grade 8 and younger) will be assessed at a later date. Those with physical limitations are exempt.
  • Everyone auditioning must provide a current headshot (see above).
  • Please list all known schedule conflicts on your audition registration, taking into consideration your work, school and vacation schedules.
  • At the audition appointment, everyone will be measured for possible costuming. This, however, does not guarantee that you will be cast in the production.
  • Due to the involvement of minors, all cast and crew members must submit information for background clearances.

Character Breakdown

Note: The age ranges listed below are the suggested range for the character. In some instances, the director may choose an actor whose actual age may be outside of the range.
*STEPHEN BECKETT (45-60s) - Husband to Katherine; father; grandfather; head of household; very wealthy man; talented singer; a romantic – full of surprises. We see him transform from happy and giddy to devastated and bitter.

*KATHERINE BECKETT (45-60s) - Wife of Stephen; mother; grandmother; sweet and gentle; practical; dedicated; loves her husband and family.

MELODY KENSINGTON (25-30s) - Daughter of Stephen & Katherine; wife of Robert; mother of Katie; sweet, but slightly cynical; desires more romance in her marriage.

ROBERT KENSINGTON (25-30s) - Husband to Melody; father of Katie; very practical.

YOUNG KATIE KENSINGTON (4-7) - Young daughter (1895) of Robert & Melody; granddaughter of Stephen & Katherine; cute as a bug; has wide-eyed excitement for Christmas.

*KATIE KENSINGTON (14-17) - Same as above, only 10 years older (1905); carries deep pain of circumstances, but wants to move on with life (Pollyanna attitude); optimistic; talented singer; wants to celebrate Christmas joyfully.

JACK EVANS (45-60s) - Loyal friend to the Beckett family; caring, wise, but not afraid to tell it like it is; sometimes narrates then walks into the scene.

DUDLEY (30-50s) - The Beckett's faithful servant; pleasant, but awkward; brings comic relief without meaning to; attracted to Carol Jordan.

CHESTER (25-40s) - Mr. Beckett’s most recent servant; strong and handsome; also brings comic relief along with Dudley; is being pursued by Carol Jordan, much to his dismay.

*CAROL JORDAN (40-60) - Comic relief; younger sister of Katherine; bold; colorful; somewhat obnoxious, yet endearing; has “sacrificed” her own desires for 10 years to care for her niece, and she wants her “life” back.

VICTORIA SHERWOOD (30-60s) - Comic relief; President of the Sisters for Musical Enrichment Society (SMES); spokesperson for the group; always attempting to be proper, but very nosy; snooty; always in charge; keeps appearances of being in control, even when she’s not.

NELLIE ELLIOTT (25-50s) - Comic relief; Secretary for the SMES; nerdy; always apologetic; humble; somewhat clumsy and bumbling.

OLIVE SKINNER (25-50s) - Comic relief; Treasurer for the SMES; very proper; firm; never smiles; always focused on details; a no-nonsense girl who gets to the point quickly.

DAPHNE BORTHWICK (25-40s) - Comic relief; Food & Decor Coordinator for the SMES; always happy; bubbly; super excited about Christmas and food; giggles and talks a lot; slightly “airhead/blond-ish.”

ELIZABETH KENDALL (30-50s) - Loving, sweet and kind; always proper; an overcomer; always positive; has wisdom obtained from painful experiences; great with children.

MRS. BLUE (30-50s) - Comic relief; an experienced nanny who has suffered many hardships and makes sure everyone around her knows it; dramatic; chronically weepy who sometimes lets out a loud cry.

MRS. PENDLETON (30-50s) - Comic relief; an experienced nanny who is all about rules; overly militant; hard disciplinarian who runs a tight ship.

JONATHAN (6-12) - Child in the park.

MICHAEL (6-12) - Child in the park.

JESSICA (8-12) - Child in the park.

EXTRAS/CHORUS - M/F of all ages.
