Mission 10 Update

May 2022

Message from Pastor Kristian

Now, more than ever before, I believe it is so important for everyone – everyone! – to go on a missions trip. Individuals who “go” come back changed every time. We’ve heard so many stories from people who saw God move, and they grew in their faith as a result. You’ll read one such example below that was shared by Alli Kehr.

We are looking ahead to the upcoming months with much anticipation and excitement. We will have opportunities to “go” – whether locally, domestically or globally. Will you join us in sharing the Good News of Jesus, and be His hands and feet in a world that needs Him?

Local Missions

Join Us at Jubilee Day

We love our local community and are excited to participate in Jubilee Day on Thursday, June 16 in downtown Mechanicsburg – the largest one-day street fair on the East Coast. Being part of this event will allow us to provide a fun, meaningful experience for families, connect with attendees and share information about CLA.

At this event, we will sponsor the Petting Zoo and have a vendor booth with fun kids’ activities. There are various opportunities to volunteer, including at the Petting Zoo (set up the night before, greet and tear down) and at our booth (greet and help with kids’ activities). There are a variety of “shifts” to pick from, and families are welcome to serve together. Learn more and register to volunteer!

Domestic Missions

An Incredible Blessing | Alli Kehr

Alli Kehr was part of a multigenerational team that served last August with Pastor Charlie Rose, the Family Worship Center and Hope for McDowell in Jolo, WV. Here is a snapshot of what the experience meant to her. If you’re thinking about going on an upcoming trip, now’s your opportunity!
“As someone who is newer to CLA and had never been on a missions trip before, admittedly I was a bit nervous. Yet I immediately felt a close connection with the entire team! Everyone was so friendly, welcoming and hardworking. Our team accomplished so much that week – even more than anticipated…

When I left Jolo, I took a part of that experience with me, and it’s been with me ever since. I’ve been on a journey with the Lord, and this trip was a big part of it. It was an incredible blessing, and I can’t wait to go back to Jolo, as well as get involved in missions in other ways!”

Global Missions

Light in the Darkness

Can you imagine growing up in a society where your parents sell you into forced sex labor, or you feel that the generational curse of sex trafficking is the only hope you have? Unfortunately, this is true for more than 16 million women and children in India.

Nearly 12 years ago, CLA developed a partnership to help provide a safe house and rescue center for women who were rescued from the sex trafficking industry in Jaipur, Rajasthan (India). A recent exploratory trip taken by Pastor Kristian and Pastor Matt to review new opportunities revealed a sense of overwhelming hopelessness and darkness. But, thankfully, we know that darkness cannot overcome the light…so we plan to help plant “light houses” to reach the dark areas and provide hope for the hopeless.

Through your generous giving over the years, we have been able to provide tangible needs – clothing, food, medical treatment, care and safety for children – as well as educational tools and resources to help many individuals.

One such way is through Ashagaon Village – or, the Village of Hope – where lives are changed daily. Women are helped to break free from sex trafficking, and they receive training to help them live a life of freedom.

Victims are given a chance to heal and regain their dignity, as well as learn skills to ensure their independence. Through a multifaceted approach, many women have already learned how to create handbags and jewelry that are being sold online worldwide. Additionally, they are being taught how to cultivate spices and products through their dairy and goat farm to sell in local markets.

The idea is to provide these current and new opportunities to create a self-sustaining economy within the village. This will help fully support each woman while helping her to acquire basic skills to run a household and have a positive impact in the community.

How can you help?
