Mission 10 Update

January 2023

Message from Pastor Kristian

As we start a new year, I want to thank you for partnering with us through our various missions endeavors…including those that have already happened, as well as those yet to come throughout this year. We can’t wait to see how the Lord will continue to expand His Kingdom so that all may hear!

Here are several highlights from last year as we reflect on His goodness and look forward with anticipation:

  • Our Prayer Team prayed for 107 of our missionary partners, lifting up specific needs they had and challenges they faced.
  • 40 individuals participated in global missions trips, 80 individuals were involved in domestic missions trips, and 70 individuals volunteered through local missions opportunities.
  • Nearly $200,000 was given through special offerings.

Looking ahead, while the deadlines have passed for several of our upcoming trips, we still have numerous opportunities for you to be a part of. Please pray for God’s direction and provision, and check out our Missions Trips page! Questions? Email us at missions@clacamphill.com.

Local Missions

The Sanctity of Life | Baby Bottle Drive

We believe in and support life, as well as those organizations that do the same. CLA has had a long-standing partnership with the Capital Area Pregnancy Center (CAPC), an anchor Christian organization in our community.

Every January, in honor of Sanctity of Life Sunday, we provide a special opportunity for our church family to support CAPC. Throughout this month, we are holding a Baby Bottle Drive. We encourage you to pick up a baby bottle at one of our Welcome Centers and fill it with loose change, bills or a check. Return the bottles by Sunday, January 29. You may also give online (please note Mission 10/CAPC).
CAPC provides various free services, including pregnancy testing; early ultrasound; pregnancy counseling and support; pregnancy, parenting and life skills education; a Boutique for mom and baby; and an Abortion Recovery Ministry (ARM) 10-week Bible study.

Here are a few highlights that show CAPC's impact in our community in 2022:

  • 523 times their advocates engaged in conversations about the Lord with their clients
  • 519 times clients accepted prayer from their advocates
  • 53 times the Gospel message was clearly presented to clients
  • 29 clients received a Bible, and many others received a copy of the Gospel of John or a Gospel tract
  • 17 girls made professions of faith
  • 357 new clients went to CAPC for help
  • 209 babies were born

Please join us in praying for spiritual refreshment for those who serve at CAPC and for the women they support. If you sense the Lord stirring your heart toward this ministry, please contact Judy Cline at judy@capchelp.org or call her at 717-761-4410.

Did you know?

At CLA, we have a passion to support single parents, and we do this in a variety of ways. For example, we offer a group called Embrace Grace for those facing an unplanned pregnancy and S.M.I.L.E., a group for single moms. Learn more.

Domestic Missions

What’s Your Choice? | Philly Dream Center – Philadelphia, PA

Our world is changing fast and, although it can feel overwhelming at times, we have a choice to become a difference maker instead of a difference complainer. In Matthew 28:19, Jesus says to His disciples, “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” Later, in Acts 1:8, Jesus expands on this by sharing the concept that we need to go to our local communities and the difficult places, in addition to going around the world.

David and Shirrie Dominguez felt the direction from God to become difference makers in Philadelphia, PA through the Philly Dream Center. Although it is the largest city in Pennsylvania and rich with history, it is also a city that is progressively moving away from God.

Without God, there is no hope! And without hope…depression, anxiety and loneliness seep into daily thoughts, where feelings of despair and unworthiness take root. David and Shirrie want to see this change. They recently purchased a large facility that holds big dreams and are ready to move forward with needed construction projects. This facility will house missions teams that will go into the city to share the hope that is only found in Jesus.

We are excited that CLA will have multiple teams going to Philly this year, and we hope you feel nudged to be a difference maker in this city! More details will be coming soon about a Construction/Renovation Team in May and a one-day Outreach & Evangelism Team for adults or families at the end of June. In addition, we have a Youth Outreach & Evangelism Team going to Philly June 26-30 (registration for this trip is now closed).

“We believe in a God that still heals and restores – investing in the next generation is an investment worth making!” – Philadelphia Dream Center

Global Missions

All Hands On Deck | Ricky and Carol Hendon – Yurimaguas, Peru

“Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. If the foot says, ‘I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,’ that does not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear says, ‘I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,’ would that make it any less a part of the body? If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?

But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where He wants it. How strange a body would be if it had only one part! Yes, there are many parts, but only one body. The eye can never say to the hand, ‘I don’t need you.’ The head can’t say to the feet, ‘I don’t need you.’” (1 Corinthians 12:14-21 NLT)

God has created each of us with unique gifts and talents to impact the Kingdom for Him. And your hands and feet are needed, as well as your construction skills and talents!

You are invited to be part of a Construction Team that will help missionaries Ricky and Carol Hendon build dormitories for a youth camp in the Amazon jungle region. (Skilled and non-skilled team members are needed.)
In this area, there are 33 indigenous villages with 27 unreached people groups that need to hear the Gospel message of Jesus. The children who would potentially attend these camps would have a two-day journey on the river and, without the dormitories, the kids would have to sleep outside in hammocks instead of in a safe interior environment. The dormitories that our team will help build will have a huge impact on the success of these camps and whether or not children who don’t know Jesus will ever hear about Him!

Perhaps you are feeling the nudge to step boldly out of your comfort zone to go to Peru, but you are unsure what to do as a next step? Simply visit our Missions Trips page to get started before April 1!
