Infant/Toddler: We help even our youngest kids become familiar with Bible stories and learn about Jesus' love for them. We provide kids with a place where they feel safe and cared for and can begin to learn how to trust God and others.

Preschool/Kindergarten: Kids enjoy large group learning and small group discussion. In large group, kids sing songs, hear Bible stories and learn more about how God wants us to live. In small group, they meet with other kids their own age and are guided in activities, lesson review and questions with a group leader.

What to Expect

Your First Visit: On your first visit, look for the designated first-time guest area, where one of our team members will walk you through the registration process. After, they’ll cover the first-time check-in process and lead you to your child’s classroom. You’ll want to arrive about 15-20 minutes early.

Return Check-in: Upon your next visit after registering, you may check in your child at any available station using the last 4 digits of your telephone number.

After finding your child’s name in the database, 2 or 3 tags will be printed with:

  1. Your child’s Name Tag to be worn during service
  2. Your Parent Tag for you to wear and/or hang on to
  3. A third tag for your child’s changing bag (birth - 2 yrs.)

All of these tags will have matching identification numbers that are exclusive to your family and your visit. After the service, you will return to your child’s room and show your Parent Tag in order for your child to be released back to you. Children will not be released to anyone not possessing the correct pick-up tag, or to a minor.

Cooperative Parental Child Care

As a regular attender at CLA, you will be asked to participate in caring for the children in the nursery and preschool. We encourage parents to serve at least one service a month.

Diaper Bag Suggestions

Please provide a diaper bag for your Infant through Two-Year Old. Diaper bags should include a bottle or sippy cup, diapers, a change of clothes and any special item that helps to calm your child (pacifier, blanket, etc.).

Mother's Room

For comfort and convenience, we have a large room for nursing mothers, which includes two private nursing rooms. Each room has a TV monitor from which you can view the adult worship service.

We provide a small snack for each child. The following is what is provided in each room. If your child is allergic to any of these snacks, please provide a snack for your child in a plastic baggie with his/her name on it.

Infants: Children will be given their own bottles or sippy cups. Due to the amount of children we care for, we cannot spoon feed a child. Gerber Graduates Puffs are provided for children who are eating solid foods.

Walkers: Gerber Graduate Puffs, Cheerios and Goldfish snack crackers.

Two-Year Olds through Kindergarten: Pretzels and Animal Crackers.

Safety & Security

We go to great lengths to make sure your child is safe with us. Every week at Check-In, your family is assigned a random, three-digit alpha-numeric code that is on the child’s name tag and your security tag.

Every weekend, your child is joined by incredible volunteers who want to ensure that each boy and girl has a fabulous experience. All of our volunteers have been trained and screened with background checks to verify their level of quality and character.

Well Child Policy

Active Chicken Pox
Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)
Fever (must be fever free for 48 hours)
Fifths Disease
Questionable Rashes
Runny Nose
Sore Throat

If a child is being treated with antibiotics, he/she should be on the drug for at least 24 hours before coming to The Big Backyard.

We realize that some symptoms hang on long after the child is no longer contagious. If your child has a continually runny nose or rash due to non-contagious allergies, please let us know. Remember that we want all of our children to remain healthy and happy.
